“Kate's notes were FANTASTIC. Not only were they thorough and insightful, but also unique and helpful in ways that typical script feedback is not.”

Still struggling to figure out what’s not working in your script?

You’ve revised. You’ve done the workshops. You’ve gotten feedback that sort of helped. But your screenplay still isn’t landing the way you want.

I offer professional, no-fluff script coverage and story coaching for screenwriters who are serious about taking their work to the next level.

“The in-script notes were written during her first read-through which gave a lot of insight into how someone reading for the first time feels every step of the way... and then the pages of more thoughtful/comprehensive notes gave a more overall insight as well as suggestions for changes to make my script better!”

What Makes This Different

I’m not here to give you a generic checklist or padded compliments.

As a script consultant working with staff writers, producers, and development executives, I deliver clear, actionable screenplay notes that help you pinpoint what’s not landing and fix it without losing your voice.

I specialize in helping screenwriters who are stuck somewhere between “good” and “great.” If you want to improve your screenplay with feedback that digs into story structure, character development, emotional payoff, and clarity, you’re in the right place.

“Kate’s script breakdowns give exactly the kind of coverage I covet and find so rarely.”

Why I Do This

I’m going to be honest: part of why I do this is selfish.

I want to see better movies.

I’m tired of great ideas getting buried under weak structure, confusing logic, or character arcs that don’t pay off. If I can help writers get past the stuck spots and tell the story they meant to tell? That’s a win for the writer, for me, and for the audience.

“Kate’s coverage was extremely thorough and insightful. She obviously spent a tremendous amount of time thinking about my script and her notes were incredibly detailed. Beyond that, the notes were delivered in a very kind and thoughtful manner. There was no time spent tearing the script down or being condescending. Every note was backed up with examples and suggestions for how to improve the sections that needed help. The follow up meeting was equally informative and enjoyable. Kate’s outstanding at what she does!

I’m Kate Gaulke

I’m a script consultant, story coach, and - let’s just call it what it is: a total fuc*ing nerd about story.

I’ve been working in the entertainment industry for over a decade in just about every capacity: acting, development, and deep-dive script analysis. These days, I read for a top literary management company and give development notes on features and pilots - not just to new writers, but to staff writers, producers, and execs.

When a development executive needs feedback on their project, I’m who they come to.

I hold a degree in Understanding and Influencing Human Behavior, which means I look at more than just plot. I zero in on what your characters are doing, why your emotional beats aren’t landing, and what’s making your story feel off - even when the structure looks fine on the surface.

I don’t do this because it’s trendy or because I want to “break in.” I do it because I genuinely care. Stories are how I survive life. They’re how I connect. How I breathe.

So if your script’s close but not quite there… if you’re staring at your latest draft and feeling the quiet dread that something’s wrong but you can’t name it -

I’ve got you. Let’s make it better.

“The best part of Kate’s coverage was hands down the zoom meeting that followed. It allowed for me to ask questions and get any further clarity I needed while going through her notes and suggestions… something I have yet to see offered anywhere else, and a valuable component to moving forward with a project in the editing phase.”
