Frequently Asked Questions

  • Typically we’ll take a moment to chat about your needs in a free consult before we begin, but the logistics are as follows:

    1. Email me the script you want me to cover at Kate@kategaulke.com

    2. I’ll reply to confirm receipt and provide the date your notes will be ready by (typically 2 weeks)

    3. I will email you back your notes in a password protected file along with an invoice.

    4. When the invoice is paid I will send you the password to your notes.

From there we’ll schedule a meeting for you to ask any questions you may have about my feedback.

  • I do take commissions from time to time, but this is a more serious engagement.

Feature commissions start at 10K with full credit for my writing if it goes on to be produced.

    Let’s talk further.

  • I am not single.

While I appreciate the compliments and interest, this website and my instagram are dedicated to professional pursuits regarding writing.

While compliments on my looks or asking me out might seem harmless, it tends to make me feel like I’m only valuable to someone for my looks or as an object of conquest. It also makes me feel unappreciated intellectually, professionally, and generally sad.

While I would love more than anything to develop a friendly working relationship, please know that romantic overtures make me feel uncomfortable more than anything else.

  • You can pay directly through the website here, though I also accept:

    • Venmo

    • CashApp

    • PayPal

    • Apple Pay

  • NEVER. A lot of writers out there have this fear. Sometimes it’s valid, though more often than not I’ve found it to be needless, at least when it comes to dealing with other writers.

If you are entering into a contract to produce your work, or working on a joint project with another writer or a studio, then yes, you should have terms ironed out beforehand regarding credit/ payment, etc..

With me, I’m simply helping you improve your writing in order to meet your goals. I’m not going to produce your work and I certainly would never pass it off as my own.

Though I’m sure your work is lovely, I want to build a career on my own merit.

  • NO.

The only way I will claim credit with a client’s work is if I am directly responsible for editing on the actual work-in-progress document or if I have been commissioned for my writing up front.

IF we were ever to reach that point there would be a very clear cut discussion before any work of that nature was implemented.

  • Yes, but I generally prefer not to.

If you want me to edit your document directly we will have to discuss the scope of my editing and credit/ pricing adjustments beforehand.

  • Absolutely not. If anyone promises you that, run far far away.

  • No - I’m here to help you with your writing.

  • Not at this time, though I will advise you on how to hunt one down for yourself!

  • Absolutely not.
